Adding Additional Nodelocked Codewords on UNIX Systems ====================================================== The following instructions will guide you through the steps to install your new nodelocked codewords. If you would like more detailed instructions, please refer to to Chapter 4 of the "Installation on UNIX Systems" guide. The complete installation guide can be found on the web at: http://www.tm.agilent.com/tmo/hpeesof/support/supp150.html You should also review the important note about FLEXlm software at the end of these instructions. If your new license.dat file contains more than one SERVER line, you have redundant server licenses. You must follow the procedure below on each of the SERVER machines. If your new license.dat file contains PACKAGE lines, then you are using ALPS or packaged licenses. The formatting of the packaged licenses is critical. Make sure the COMPONENT line is a single continous line, with no line breaks. For information on setting up FLEXlm options file, please refer to: http://contact.tm.agilent.com/tmo/hpeesof/docs/adsdoc/doc.html Instructions ------------ 1. Save the attached license.dat file to: /usr/tmp/license.dat 2. Verify that the third field of the SERVER line information in your new license.dat file is the same as in your existing license.dat file. For example: New License.dat: SERVER unknown 807b91e0 1700 Existing License.dat: SERVER joshua 807b91e0 1710 If you have more than one SERVER line in your new license.dat file, verify that your existing license.dat has the same number of licenses and the same SERVER line information. If the hostid shown in the third field of the SERVER line(s) is different, you need to contact Agilent EEsof EDA Business Support Center in the United States or Canada, at 1-800-507-6274. Outside of the United States or Canada, please contact your local Agilent EEsof EDA representative or contract administrator. 3. Merge the INCREMENT lines from your new license.dat file with the INCREMENT lines in your existing license.dat file. If you have packaged licenses, you must include the PACKAGE and COMPONENT lines too. Be sure to use an editor that will not insert extra characters into the license.dat file. For example: New License.dat file: SERVER unknown 807b91e0 1700 DAEMON hpeesofd /eesof/licenses/vendors/hpeesofd INCREMENT Layout hpeesofd 1.7 17-sep-2002 1 \ 5C3A150A17B9FE085F44 VENDOR_STRING=s=807B91E0 \ HOSTID=807CF327 Existing License.dat file: SERVER joshua 807b91e0 1700 DAEMON hpeesofd /ads2001/licenses/vendors/hpeesofd INCREMENT Design_sync hpeesofd 1.7 17-sep-2002 1 \ 3C1A959AA8580EACED99 VENDOR_STRING=s=807B91E0 \ HOSTID=807CF327 INCREMENT Graphics_server hpeesofd 1.7 17-sep-2002 1 \ 8C1A45BA8D2013FA4755 VENDOR_STRING=s=807B91E0 \ HOSTID=807CF327 INCREMENT Schematic hpeesofd 1.7 17-sep-2002 1 \ 8C0AB58A83C99A326583 VENDOR_STRING=s=807B91E0 \ HOSTID=807CF327 INCREMENT System_freq hpeesofd 1.7 17-sep-2002 1 \ EC1AF5DA4CCEF836EBBD VENDOR_STRING=s=807B91E0 \ HOSTID=807CF327 Merged License.dat file: SERVER joshua 807b91e0 1700 DAEMON hpeesofd /ads2001/licenses/vendors/hpeesofd INCREMENT Design_sync hpeesofd 1.7 17-sep-2002 1 \ 3C1A959AA8580EACED99 VENDOR_STRING=s=807B91E0 \ HOSTID=807CF327 INCREMENT Graphics_server hpeesofd 1.7 17-sep-2002 1 \ 8C1A45BA8D2013FA4755 VENDOR_STRING=s=807B91E0 \ HOSTID=807CF327 INCREMENT Schematic hpeesofd 1.7 17-sep-2002 1 \ 8C0AB58A83C99A326583 VENDOR_STRING=s=807B91E0 \ HOSTID=807CF327 INCREMENT System_freq hpeesofd 1.7 17-sep-2002 1 \ EC1AF5DA4CCEF836EBBD VENDOR_STRING=s=807B91E0 \ HOSTID=807CF327 INCREMENT Layout hpeesofd 1.7 17-sep-2002 1 \ 5C3A150A17B9FE085F44 VENDOR_STRING=s=807B91E0 \ HOSTID=807CF327 If you have more than one SERVER line in your license.dat file, you need to do this on each of the SERVER machines. Make sure all copies of the license.dat file have the correct hostname and path information on the SERVER and DAEMON lines. NOTE: If your license server is running HP-UX, the hostid on the SERVER line(s) will be in hexadecimal. 4. With the merged license.dat file in place, you need to notify FLEXlm of the new licenses before they will be enabled. If you have more than one SERVER, you need to do this on all the SERVER machines. You can do this without stopping and restarting the FLEXlm software on your license server. From a command prompt, do the following: a) cd /ads2001/licenses/bin b) ./lmutil lmreread -c ../license.dat This assumes you have placed the new merged license.dat file in /ads2001/licenses/license.dat. If this doesn't work for you, stop and restart FLEXlm as follows: a) cd /ads2001/licenses/bin b) ./lmutil lmdown -c ../license.dat c) ./lmgrd -c ../license.dat > ../flex.log You may also want to simply reboot your license server with the new merged license.dat file in place. This will work if your FLEXlm sofware is configured to restart after every reboot. 5. Check /ads2001/licenses/flex.log for errors. If you have more than one SERVER machine, you will want to check each SERVER machine flex.log file. You can confirm the license server is up and licenses are available as follows: Check the status of the license server: cd /ads2001/licenses/bin ./lmutil lmstat -a -c ../license.dat | more Run lmdiag to make sure licenses can be checked out: ./lmutil lmdiag -c ../license.dat 6. You are now ready to run ADS. Need More Help? --------------- Be sure to look at the Installation Guide for your system for more detailed instructions. As of ADS 2001, the lmgrd and hpeesofd supplied by Agilent EEsof EDA are v7.0g. You may be able to get a newer version of lmgrd from the Globetrotter Software web site: http://www.globetrotter.com/flexlm/lmgrd.shtml Agilent EEsof EDA is the only source for hpeesofd. If you need hpeesofd for any of the Agilent EEsof EDA supported platforms, go to: ftp://ftp.eesofeda.agilent.com/dist/support/FLEXlm/ The latest versions of lmgrd and hpeesofd are always backward compatible. That is, all new versions of lmgrd and hpeesofd are designed to work with software that may have been designed using a previous version of lmgrd and/or hpeesofd. unix_nl_addon.txt r05.29.2001
