Adding Additional Floating Codewords for PC Systems (Ethernet Address) ================================================== The following instructions will guide you through the steps to install your new floating codewords. If you would like more detailed instructions, please refer to Chapter 4 of the "Installation on PC Systems" guide. The complete installation guide can be found on the web at: http://www.tm.agilent.com/tmo/hpeesof/support/supp150.html You should also review the important note about FLEXlm software at the end of these instructions. We recommend you use Windows NT, Windows 2000 or UNIX to serve your floating licenses. Windows 95 and 98 do not provide a mechanism for automating the startup of FLEXlm on every reboot of the license server. If your new license.dat file contains more than 1 SERVER line, you have Redundant Server licenses. You must follow the procedure below on each of the SERVER machines. If your new license.dat file contains PACKAGE lines, then you are using ALPS or Packaged licenses. The formatting of the Packaged licenses is critical. Make sure the COMPONENT line is one single continous line, with no line breaks. Installation Instructions ------------------------- 1. Save the attached license.dat file to your PC's disk. 2. Verify that the third field of the SERVER line information in your new license.dat file is the same as in your existing license.dat file. For example: New License.dat: SERVER unknown 0050DACA00F5 1700 Existing License.dat: SERVER joshua 0050DACA00F5 1710 If the ethernet address in the third field of the SERVER line is different, then you need to contact Agilent EEsof EDA Business Support Center in the United States or Canada, at 1-800-507-6274. Outside of the United States or Canada, please contact your local Agilent EEsof EDA representative or contract administrator. 3. Merge the INCREMENT lines from your new license.dat file with the INCREMENT lines in your existing license.dat file. Be sure to use an editor like Notepad that will not add any extra characters to your license.dat file. Here's an example: New License.dat file: SERVER unknown 0050DAC00F5 1700 DAEMON hpeesofd /eesof/licenses/vendors/hpeesofd \ /eesof/licenses/local.options INCREMENT Layout hpeesofd 1.5 20-sep-2002 5 \ BC9143228F5E4425EFFC3 VENDOR_STRING=s=0050DACA00F5 Existing License.dat file: SERVER joshua 0050DAC00F5 1700 DAEMON hpeesofd c:\ads15\licenses\vendors\hpeesofd INCREMENT Design_sync hpeesofd 1.5 20-sep-2002 5 \ DC78130225DF318069EB VENDOR_STRING=s=0050DACA00F5 INCREMENT Graphics_server hpeesofd 1.5 20-sep-2002 5 \ 9CF88322CE82E9079D3E VENDOR_STRING=s=0050DACA00F5 INCREMENT Layout hpeesofd 1.5 20-sep-2002 5 \ 4C88E3F2E15E612E855C VENDOR_STRING=s=0050DACA00F5 INCREMENT Schematic hpeesofd 1.5 20-sep-2002 5 \ EC48638225EB2254DDD9 VENDOR_STRING=s=0050DACA00F5 INCREMENT System_freq hpeesofd 1.5 20-sep-2002 5 \ CCA883E2042A3CC2BC52 VENDOR_STRING=s=0050DACA00F5 Merged License.dat file: SERVER joshua 0050DAC00F5 1700 DAEMON hpeesofd c:\ads13\licenses\vendors\hpeesofd INCREMENT Design_sync hpeesofd 1.5 20-sep-2002 5 \ DC78130225DF318069EB VENDOR_STRING=s=0050DACA00F5 INCREMENT Graphics_server hpeesofd 1.5 20-sep-2002 5 \ 9CF88322CE82E9079D3E VENDOR_STRING=s=0050DACA00F5 INCREMENT Layout hpeesofd 1.5 20-sep-2002 5 \ 4C88E3F2E15E612E855C VENDOR_STRING=s=0050DACA00F5 INCREMENT Schematic hpeesofd 1.5 20-sep-2002 5 \ EC48638225EB2254DDD9 VENDOR_STRING=s=0050DACA00F5 INCREMENT System_freq hpeesofd 1.5 20-sep-2002 5 \ CCA883E2042A3CC2BC52 VENDOR_STRING=s=0050DACA00F5 INCREMENT Layout hpeesofd 1.5 20-sep-2002 5 \ BC9143228F5E4425EFFC3 VENDOR_STRING=s=0050DACA00F5 If you have more than one SERVER line in your license.dat file, you need to do this on each of the SERVER machines. Make sure all copies of the license.dat file have the correct hostname and path information on the SERVER and DAEMON lines. 4. With the merged license.dat file in place, you need to notify FLEXlm of the new licenses before they will be enabled. If you have more than one SERVER, you need to do this on all the SERVER machines. You can do this without stopping and restarting the FLEXlm software running on your license server. From a DOS command prompt, do the following: a) cd \ads13\licenses\bin b) lmutil lmreread -c ..\license.dat This assumes you have placed the new merged license.dat file in \ads13\licenses\license.dat. If this doesn't work for you, stop and restart FLEXlm as follows: a) cd \ads13\licenses\bin b) lmutil lmdown -c ..\license.dat c) lmgrd -c ..\license.dat You may also want to simply reboot your license server with the new merged license.dat file in place. This will work if your FLEXlm software is configured to restart after every reboot. 5. Check d:\AdvDesSys1.5\licenses\flex.log for errors. If you have more than one SERVER machine, you will want to check each SERVER machine's flex.log file. You can confirm the license server is up and licenses are available as follows: Check the status of the license server: cd \AdvDesSys1.5\licenses\bin lmutil lmstat -a -c ..\license.dat | more Run lmdiag to make sure licenses can be checked out: lmutil lmdiag -c ..\license.dat 6. You can now run ADS using your new licenses. Need More Help? --------------- Be sure to look at the Installation Guide for your system for more detailed instructions.
