Agilent RF Design Environment 2005A (RFDE 2005A) is the leading software design platform for large-scale RF/mixed-signal IC design in the Cadence environment.
Among the most important enhancements and new features in RFDE 2005A are the following:
- Simulation Technology Improvements
- DC Simulation Enhancements. The robustness and speed of the default DC analysis algorithm has been significantly improved in 2005A. All DC analyses with factory-default settings are expected to converge to the correct solution with near-optimal speed.
- HB Simulation Enhancements. 2005A features improved robustness and near optimal speed of the HB analysis. The HB analyses at default settings achieve convergence rate above 90% and speed comparable to user-defined 4A settings.
- Robustness Improvements. Users have a reduced need to manually adjust simulator parameters. Simulators convergence on difficult circuits have increased while the time to simulate schematic and extracted view circuits has decreased
- Process Design Kits and Models
- Support for both ADS- and Spectre-style netlist and models. RFDE2005A is multi-lingual: understanding both the ADS-style netlist and models and Spectre-style netlist and models. This means RFDE2005A will use the standard foundry created Spectre PDK, in many cases, with no modifications. So, with less effort, it will be possible to support both RFDE and Spectre usage. RFDE2005A will be fully compatible with existing 2003C / 2004A RFDE enabled PDKs.
- Momentum 2005A Major Technology Upgrade
- Technology Upgrades. Momentum RFDE includes a number of major technology upgrades in simulation such as iterative solver, vertical currents on thick conductors and a new matrix load scheme. In addition 64 bit support and remote simulation would increase robustness and capacity of EM simulations.
- Ptolemy Sources and Measurements in AMS Designer
- Ptolemy Sources and Measurements. This feature makes available the use of ADS Ptolemy source and sink subcircuits (system test benches) as components for use in Cadence's Analog-Mixed Signal Simulator running under the Analog Design Environment (AMSD-ADE). Similar export process such as the one used for WTB is deployed here.
- RFDE 2005A Platform Support
- Cadence IC 5.1.41, MMSIM 6.0
- Linux RH 7.2, 7.3, 8, RHE 2.1, 3.0
- Solaris 8, 9, 10
- HP-UX 11, 11i
- Ptolemy / AMS-D integration: Cadence IUS 5.4
