  1. Why is Agilent EEsof EDA no longer offering HP-UX 11.0 or 11i as an operating system for its products?
  2. Agilent EEsof EDA provides support for multiple operating systems and hardware platforms for our products. Our organization periodically reviews and modifies its support strategy for software versions, computer platforms, and operating systems to ensure the best overall fit for our customers. We believe that this refocus puts us in a much better position to deliver more value through our existing product portfolio.

  3. How will the HP-UX discontinuance impact me?
  4. All releases beyond 2006 will no longer offer HP-UX as an operating system option.

  5. What products does this announcement affect?
  6. Our current products that will be affected by this announcement include Advanced Design System (ADS), the Momentum Simulation Engine (MOM), RF Design Environment (RFDE), and the IC-CAP Parameter Extraction and Device Modeling tool (IC-CAP).

  7. What will the last product release that runs on HP-UX operating systems be?
  8. The 2006 based releases will be the last releases to offer HP-UX operating systems as an option.

  9. When will technical support end for products running on HP-UX?
  10. Technical support will be available for products running on the HP-UX operating system until the first 2008 release.

  11. What do you mean by releases?
  12. Agilent EEsof EDA uses a release management model to manage and deliver new value and quality improvements to our customers. Our products are typically delivered every six to nine months and are normally associated with the calendar year that they are delivered in. For example, "ADS 2005A" was made available in December of 2005.

  13. If you are not going to offer HP-UX operating systems as an option, what operating systems will you offer?

  16. We realize that discontinuing a platform could have a significant impact on some customers; therefore, we want to give you as much advanced notice as possible so that you can evaluate your own situation and prepare for any necessary changes.

  23. I have a number of legacy designs that I need to be able to keep running with the last 2006 software on HP-UX for a certain period of time. How will this impact me?

    Our licensing system will enable you to run your 2006 software from a license server for up to three releases back. So you will effectively be able to run your 2006 version of software until 2009. After that period, we can provide you with permanent node-locked licenses for your 2006 software.
