Product Highlights
Product DescriptionExpert Help in the Time-To-Market RaceAs a communications product designer, you fuel your business growth by bringing state-of-the-art products to market as quickly as possible. In this fast-paced business you must keep up with emerging technologies and increasing design complexity while charting a course to product success. It's a big challenge to balance the time spent acquiring new expertise against time-to-market constraints. DesignGuides, a new set of application-focused products, help you achieve this balance. DesignGuides apply the powerful simulation technologies in Advanced Design System to specific design applications such as microstrip circuits, power amplifiers, mixers, filters, and oscillators. They make the job of circuit design easier, faster, and more consistent through the use of wizards, templates, examples, and step-by-step instructions. With DesignGuides, you leverage the best practices of industry experts. These experts collaborate with Agilent EEsof EDA to provide circuits for representative design topologies, along with simulation and results data for key specifications. The time they spend creating a DesignGuide is time you save on your own designs. If you are a new or occasional user of Advanced Design System, or even an expert user that needs to gain new proficiency quickly, you'll really benefit from the built-in expertise in DesignGuides. Design aids such as predetermined goals, predefined syntax, and preconfigured data displays give you easy access to the power of Advanced Design System, all without the up-front time requirements of learning from scratch. What is in a DesignGuide?
What Design Types are Covered by DesignGuides?DesignGuides are available for technology standards such as Bluetooth and CDMA2000 and design types such as RF systems, mixers, passive circuits, amplifiers, phase locked loops, and oscillators. Additional DesignGuides are being prepared.
Design UtilitiesThe following design utilities are installed automatically with certain DesignGuides and are available under the DesignGuides menu command in ADS. All three of these utilities are available with the Amplifier, Mixer, and Oscillator DesignGuides. The Smith Chart and Matching utilities are available with the Filter DesignGuide. Application GuidesThe following Application Guides are available, without charge, for installation and use with ADS:

Training ClassesAdvanced Design System FundamentalsThis is a medium-paced three-day detailed introduction to the application of Advanced Design System (ADS) for communication systems and circuit designs. This course instructs designers on schematic capture, the proper application of a wide variety of simulators, and the display and manipulation of results. After a brief study of ADS basic operation, students design and test amplifier and filter circuits that are then placed in a down-converting receiver system for final simulation. Real-world examples are used at all times so that designers can return to their jobs ready to apply ADS effectively to their design challenges.
