Cadence Design Systems - Resource Profile

The Agilent-Cadence RF/Mixed-Signal IC Design Alliance was formed in 2002 to address demand from mutual customers who wanted to access Agilent’s best-in-class RF simulation technology in the Advanced Design System (ADS), from within Cadence’s best-in-class custom IC design platform.

The result was the RF Design Environment (RFDE), a product developed, distributed and supported by Agilent EEsof EDA.  The RFDE platform delivers several levels of integration between Agilent’s simulation technology and Cadence’s design platform:

RFDE Circuit Simulation: simulate Cadence Virtuoso schematics directly using Agilent’s DC, AC, Transient, Convolution, Harmonic Balance and Circuit Envelope simulation engines.  Results are analyzed in the Agilent RF Data Display environment.  RF component libraries from ADS are directly available from ADSlib.  With Spectre Compatibility Mode, RFDE can be used with standard foundry PDK’s based on Spectre simulator models.

RFDE Momentum: create accurate RF models for critical interconnects and layout components such as spiral inductors using Agilent’s Momentum 3D-planar electromagnetic simulator engine.

RFDE Wireless Test Benches: verify circuit schematics to system specifications using wireless standard-compliant sources and measurement algorithms from Agilent’s Ptolemy System Simulator and Wireless Libraries.

Dynamic Link: export Cadence Virtuoso circuit netlists for more advanced simulation, analysis and verification in the ADS schematic environment.

Ptolemy / AMS-Designer Link: export wireless standard-compliant sources and measurement algorithms from Agilent’s Ptolemy System Simulator and Wireless Libraries to Cadence AMS-Designer for verification of mixed-signal designs.
