PDF Files Not Viewable/Not Found

For help when Adobe Acrobat PDF files on the Agilent EEsof EDA web site appear to be not viewable using a web browser, click on the following link:

PDF Files Not Viewable/Not Found

This problem has been reported with a number of different browsers, operating systems, and Agilent EEsof EDA PDF files. The workaround is to download the file to the computer's hard disc and view it locally. Details appear on the PDF Files Not Viewable/Not Found page.

Platforms

Acrobat Reader 5.0 (and later versions) is available for many PC, Macintosh, and UNIX platforms, and in several languages. However, there is no Japanese language version for UNIX platforms (PC and Macintosh only).

Downloading and Printing PDF Files

Print quality and speed can sometimes be improved by downloading the PDF file onto your local hard drive, then using Adobe Acrobat to view and print the local copy or selected pages from it.

Do this instead of printing the document directly from your web browser.

Downloading a local copy is also a good way to keep or share a copy of a document, to make it available on a local intranet, or to attach it to an e-mail message.

To download any PDF file on the Agilent EEsof EDA web site, follow these steps:

  1. Verify that the latest version of Adobe Acrobat(R) has been installed.
  2. On the Agilent EEsof EDA web page that has the link to the document that is wanted, click on the link with the right-hand button on the mouse.
  3. When the menu appears, choose the option Save Link As....
  4. When the dialog box appears, choose the location where the PDF file file should be downloaded.
  5. Click on the button OK to download the PDF file.

To print the PDF file, follow these steps:

  1. On the local computer, run the Adobe Acrobat viewer.
  2. When the viewing window and dialog box appear, find the file name of the file that will be printed.
  3. Click on the button Open to open that file.
  4. When the document appears in the viewing window, choose the menu command File > Print to print the document or selected pages from it.

Some experimentation may be needed to find the best print settings for the printer that is being used. For example, the setting Shrink to Fit is needed when Agilent EEsof EDA documents are printed on A4 paper.

General printer settings can be changed by using the menu command File > Print Setup... in the viewing window.

  5. Click on the button OK to print the document.

Printing on A4 Paper

Documents on the Agilent EEsof EDA web site are set up for printing on 8.5 by 11 inch paper. To print them on A4 paper, in the Print dialog box choose the setting Shrink to Fit.

Printing Documents in Color

Some color printers print color at a different resolution from black-and-white, and this can affect print quality. If print quality is poor when printing in color, try another setting of the resolution on the color printer.

Documents on the Agilent EEsof EDA web site have been optimized for printing on Hewlett-Packard color and black-and-white laser printers.

Typical Download Times

How long it takes to download a PDF file depends on the file size and the actual data transfer rate of the internet connection. The actual data transfer rate is generally less than the nominal speed of the network connection or modem due to server speed and network traffic.

Typical download times for a 1000 KB (1 MB) PDF file are as follows:

Actual
Data Transfer Rate
Typical
Download Time
14.4 KB/second12 minutes
28.8 KB/second6 minutes
53.3 KB/second3 minutes
128 KB/second1 minute
